Como ganadores de la competencia estudiantil EmPower Solar, el equipo Avalon STATE tuvo el privilegio de experimentar de cerca esta competencia universitaria.<\/p>\n<p>Llegamos al Gran Parque del Condado de Orange en Irvine, California, el 11 de octubre. Despu\u00e9s de recibir nuestras gu\u00edas, nos sumergimos en la experiencia. En total hab\u00eda 19 casas solares, cada una con sus propias caracter\u00edsticas \u00fanicas. Los estudiantes que construyeron las casas estaban ansiosos por dar recorridos por sus creaciones, fueron incansables y muy entusiastas. Todas las casas eran muy impresionantes; Fue dif\u00edcil elegir mis favoritos.<\/p>\n<p>Mis tres casas favoritas fueron el Equipo Capitol DC de (La Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Am\u00e9rica, la Universidad George Washington y la Universidad Americana), el Equipo Kentucky\/Indiana (Universidad de Louisville, la Universidad Ball State y la Universidad de Kentucky) y el Instituto de Arquitectura del Sur de California. y el Instituto de Tecnolog\u00eda de California.<\/p>\n<p>Team Capitol DC, The Harvest Home, se destac\u00f3 por su ambiente tranquilo y relajante. Su dise\u00f1o no era industrial y se sent\u00eda como un hogar. Los dise\u00f1adores utilizaron hermosos materiales y colores que permitieron una transici\u00f3n sutil entre los aspectos interior y exterior de la casa. Otra forma de conservaci\u00f3n en esta casa fue la madera recuperada y reciclada para hacer los pisos y otros elementos de madera de la casa. El sistema de eficiencia energ\u00e9tica utiliz\u00f3 la gesti\u00f3n inteligente del hogar para monitorear y rastrear la energ\u00eda utilizada y ahorrada. Otra caracter\u00edstica interesante de esta casa fue la pantalla de sombra. Esta pantalla modulaba la temperatura de la vivienda mediante esa apertura o cierre en respuesta a las condiciones clim\u00e1ticas exteriores. La raz\u00f3n por la que esta casa era \u00fanica era porque ten\u00eda en mente a nuestros veteranos militares de EE. UU. Esta casa se utilizar\u00e1 para ayudarlos a adaptarse y recuperarse de sus discapacidades f\u00edsicas y mentales cuando regresen a casa.<\/p>\n<p>A continuaci\u00f3n, el equipo Kentucky\/Indiana (The Phoenix House) dise\u00f1\u00f3 su casa teniendo en mente a las familias afectadas por desastres naturales. Esta casa fue dise\u00f1ada para construirse r\u00e1pidamente y brindar a las personas un refugio seguro y eficiente. En esta casa se utiliz\u00f3 energ\u00eda solar como energ\u00eda y se utiliz\u00f3 en un sistema de calentamiento de agua. Por ejemplo, el ba\u00f1o de esta casa tambi\u00e9n sirvi\u00f3 como refugio contra la intemperie con una puerta de acero y una ventana que no se romp\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Por \u00faltimo, el Equipo del Instituto de Arquitectura del Sur de California y el Instituto de Tecnolog\u00eda de California (The DALE, Dynamic Augmented Living Environment), ten\u00edan dos m\u00f3dulos m\u00f3viles con capacidad de expandirse. Los dos m\u00f3dulos se mov\u00edan sobre un conjunto de rieles que pod\u00edan aumentar y disminuir el tama\u00f1o de las habitaciones seg\u00fan fuera necesario. Espero que mi madre estuviera prestando atenci\u00f3n; \u00a1Ser\u00eda un gran regalo de graduaci\u00f3n dentro de tres a\u00f1os!<\/p>\n<p>El mensaje principal fue que con la tecnolog\u00eda que tenemos hoy y los avances cada vez mayores, es posible vivir una vida energ\u00e9ticamente eficiente y respetuosa con el medio ambiente.
