Our Solar Design Center in Island Park, NY is a place for our neighbors to drop in and speak with our solar ambassadors. We’ll show you our solar technology first-hand and help design the best system for your needs.

The Solar Design Center is 100% powered by solar energy, using a 36.5kW SunPower solar power electric system and a battery bank for emergency power and peak energy load shaving. We also have four electric vehicle charging stations available for your use— just check in at the front desk between the hours of 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

This Is for an ongoing project but the experience so far has been amazing with EmPower Solar. From the beginning with Jeff I knew I was in good hands and quickly was able to accommodate project modifications I wanted along the way due to increased energy usage. The installation and onboarding team were very professional and did a good job overall as well. My panels and Tesla 3 battery look amazing. Can’t wait for them to be activated after Pseg approvalUPDATE: System is up. Above all, I have to say that Jeff and Nancy Cohen were the absolute best people I could have worked with from EmPower Solar. They were essential in addressing all of my concerns, guiding me through every step, and ultimately helping me make the decision to go solar. Even after the contract was signed and the installation was completed, Jeff and Nancy remained easily accessible and responded to my questions quickly and efficiently. Their efforts ensured the entire process was incredibly smooth.When EmPower Solar installed my panels, there was one item that needed to be revisited, and they promptly came one morning and took care of it when they had some time. Throughout the entire experience, they were nothing short of professional.Not long after the installation, I learned that SunPower, the company responsible for the warranty on my panels, had filed for bankruptcy. Naturally, I became concerned, as my roof, panels, and inverters were supposed to have a 25-year warranty. I reached out to Jeff and Nancy again, feeling anxious about the situation. Thankfully, Tara and Matt also stepped in, reassuring me with clear explanations about the bankruptcy and letting me know that they believed the warranties would be transferred to another company. I finally received the paperwork and all of my 19 panels are covered by warranty. I'm awaiting the app update from EmPower Solar to continue to monitor my panels as this was part of my contract that I signed.One of the standout aspects of working with EmPower Solar is their excellent communication. Then came Bree Sallee project manager from Empower solar with her very professional knowledgable friendly attitude. Really like their Salesperson Gen who provided professional advice and very reasonable pricing. When all other companies quote me a high price and told me they would match other company’s price with$10-$15k lower than their original quote, Empower is the only company that quote me a reasonable price from the beginning.Installation is clean and fast. Job was done well and the person who installed the panels answered all my question.The only reason why i reduce 1 star here is the wait time for the installation. Mine is a special case with contract being re-signed once but the whole process took 6 months and I am waiting for DOB inspection to start using solar.

The installation crew led by Daryl and supervised by Chris King were excellent. But, the practice of having offsite people sending instructions to the onsite crew, to me, is a flawed way to do business. The offsite person created confusion that almost resulted in a messy installation as well as wasting my time, the contractor's and the onsite crew. The project manager was also not on hand for the installation. I was not impressed by this mode of working.

I’m editing updating my review because my panels began operating and I’m pleased with their performance. The installation was fine, although it took two days instead of one to install as promised. On the scheduled installation date, I was told that the workers would arrive at 7 AM and I should be ready for their arrival at that time. Instead, they arrived 4 1/2 hour later at 11:30 AM. I received no phone call from anyone letting me know that they would be late. I just sat here and waited for 4 1/2 hours without the courtesy of a phone call. Apparently they had a meeting that morning yet nobody thought to let their customer know of the change in the schedule. The panels have not yet been activated so I can’t comment on the product itself.

All I can say is I wish I never put the solar panels on my roof this has been a nightmare all around my system has failed numerous times in the 2 years I have had them I pay payments and on top of still paying a high electric bill due to the lack of having a system run properly on top of losing energy during the most hotest season of the year summer what a big mistake you try to save money but in the end it has cost me double.. Everything seemed okay until you realize the tax credits they tell you about doesn't apply to everyone and it was never disclosed. They give you a bridge loan for the amount of tax credits with a crazy interest rate like 30%. Lo behold, you go to the accountant and find out the credits are non refundable. Irs will hold it on your file but never give you the cash for it. But in 18 months from install, younhave to pay the bridge loan otherwise you pay 30k interest on a 17k loan. Tried speaking to them and they go oh yea that why you should speak to a accountant before going solar. What??? All mieading and misinformation. And the company they use for financing will not help one bit. VERY UPSETTING AND MISLEADING. I would stay away. And other companies do offer bridge loans but they just add it to your normal payments without that interest upcharge. Do not recommend

First I will give credit where it is due. Many teams did a fantastic job. Site plans, visits, the permitting process & close out process; these teams were great.TL;DR of my rating: it is due to lack of communication when it mattered, and the wasted time that ensued for the months following.The reason for my rating is the complete breakdown in communication from the Project Management team when we relied on them. After 7.5 months of waiting for an installation (when we were told 3 months), we were finally scheduled. We cleared our schedules to be available to the team. Then, on the day of installation, no one showed up.I called and kept getting transferred to the general voicemail because no one answered. I sent emails, only to receive an Out of Office response from our project manager. The out of office response directed me to a general mailbox, rather than a specific person. Finally a few hours after we expected installation to begin, we were told that our panels were backordered, and we’d be re-scheduled when panels arrived.The problem with this last minute change was the complete disregard for our time, schedules, and the lack of basic respect we were shown. Before our Project Manager went on vacation, he failed to let us know about the change in installation date. However because we still expected an installation to be ongoing, we were up earlier, arranged for offsite pet care, arranged for our children to be brought to/picked up from school, all to make ourselves available. All of this was for naught.The other reason we had a problem with this was that no one told the finance company about the delay. When I woke up on the day we were supposed to have our panels installed, I also woke up to loan closing documents. The loan was fully funded and Empower had every scent of the project in their pockets, and I had a payment due date looming without an installation date.When I expressed these frustrations I was told by the Sr. Project Manager that as a courtesy Empower would cover the first payment of our loan (5/9 install, 5/10 payment due date). We accepted this as a show of good faith and a gesture of goodwill in light of Empower’s failure to communicate and we chose to move forward. I was later told the installation date would be moved up a week, which was even better.Our panels were installed. Credit where it is due - the installation team went way beyond my expectations. While they started five hours late on our re-scheduled installation date, this was OK because they were in constant communication with us. Then, when they felt they wouldn’t be able to finish the project on time, they called in a second crew to help them finish. They worked long days to get the job done. I have nothing negative to say about them.When I began to follow up about the reimbursement we were offered (on 5/30, 6/6, 6/28), the Project Management team kept telling me it was in process. On June 7th I was told “The payment is being processed and a check should be going out shortly”.On June 28th, I was told that the reimbursement that I was offered by Empower had been rejected by the finance team. Their reasoning was that the project was eventually installed before the first payment came due.Once again, Empower failed to communicate crucial information in a timely fashion. I was repeatedly told the payment was in process, which was apparently never true. Incidentally our first payment was due 5/10, but our initial rescheduled installation date was 5/9. This date was also “before the payment was due”, so I don’t know why Empower ever offered reimbursement to us if we were always going to be disqualified based on the installation dates. As a reminder for anyone still reading, we never asked for this reimbursement. It was offered to us due to the failures on Empower’s part.If you’re looking for a solar company, Empower is great when everything goes right. However the better measure of a good company is how they respond when things go wrong. Empower failed.

I used Empower to install my solar system. From the very beginning they were transparent, my main contact person was there every step of the way. The system works great. After I pay the loan off, I will only pay the connection fee to the grid. I had a problem with something in one of the boxes mounted to the house. I called and the issue was fixed.

I was very pleased with the entire process. The communication all along was key and made us less worried about this whole experience. From Kyle our salesperson who was patient with all the details we requested, to Byron who did his best to move our installation date forward to accommodate our travel plans and finally to the crew who came to install the system for us. Darrell, Justin, Joey and Billy were very kind, respectful and professional.
The only suggestion would be an improvement on the installation timeline and collaboration with town of brookhaven.

EmPower was nothing but excellent in every aspect of my having gone solar. My sales representative/department provided answers to any and all questions I had about moving to solar and what was involved each step of the way. She was also very flexible, patient, and understanding and stayed with me as a changed my mind on various parts of the project. In addition, my project manager kept in touch with me and updated me during each step of review, approval, and scheduling the installation. The best part of it all was that the installation went smoothly and quickly. The complete system was up in less than two days and actually running (producing electricity) midway through the second day of installation. Empower handled the entire design, permitting, and town review process from beginning to end. Very important to know is that their components, from the panels themselves to the support structure or perhaps the best on the market and, best of all, the system works exactly as described and promised. It’s a beautiful beautiful thing to see these panels run my house and build up credits just about every day since it’s been installed. I highly recommend EmPower as the company to consider for your solar installation. The payback in my case will be between six and seven years at the most.

I just had a 13kW system installed by EmPower. I was extremely impressed with the entire process from start to finish- sales, planning, and the installation itself. Everything was incredibly streamlined. I shouldn't have mentioned the "planning" stage because I literally don't think I did anything at all. Everyone was very helpful, and took their time explaining the nitty gritty details. Overall it was a great experience and I'm very happy with the system. I also signed up for their new community solar project in Selden, so when I'm not powered by my Empower solar system, I'll be getting power from community solar.

I just had Solar installed on my home. I was very skeptical and unsure about it so I did my homework first. I also asked friends and other customers that have had solar installed on their homes. I didn't want to go in clueless so I wouldn't be taken advantage of. I had a few estimates from different companies and I decided on Empower Solar (Sunpower Panels).

From the beginning my consultant was Beth Austin, she presented it so clearly and answered my every question even my tough skeptical questions. She even told me to list whatever questions I had. When I would text or e-mail her with a question she would get back to me as soon as she could and answered it. The install went smoothly and the crew was safe and wore their masks for all our safety. Dean, the project foreman walked me through all of it including the structure part and the tech parts. Byron, the project manager corresponded with me prior to install so I was ready on my end. I learned so much about solar and Empower made me feel that I made the right decision to install solar on my home. I'm excited for my first "0" electric bill. 😁

It's been almost a year since we started our Solar journey with EmPower. We made the decision to switch because of a promotion through my employer, as well as the federal tax incentive to make the switch. We also needed a new roof, so that helped too. The entire process with EmPower was quick and painless. After being referred to EmPower, we met Bethany Austin, our sales rep. She scheduled a time that worked for us, even on weekends, and was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. She truly has her customers' best interests at heart. It did take several months for the town to approve our permit, which was no fault of EmPower's. The town's delay did force us to move our project into the following tax year, but EmPower did the right thing by giving us the difference in tax incentive that we were losing out on. The install itself took 3 days. It would normally have taken 2, but the weather didn't exactly cooperate. The install team worked hard, were efficient, considerate, and professional. Once it was complete, they gave us a walk-through and showed us how to use the app to monitor our energy output. In the end, it was completely worth it. I look forward to sunny days when we don't have to use electricity from the grid! Thank you to the entire EmPower team - Bethany and Byron especially for being on top of our project!

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! Avoid EmPower Solar and save yourself extreme frustration and please go with another company. Prepare to be treated like a transaction with ZERO customer service. If I can give less than a 1-star rating I would.

The last 5 months of signing on with EmPower has been a tremendous disappointment and mentally draining. As a customer/client I wouldn't want this experience for anyone but I have reached a breaking point where I can no longer feel confident EmPower will deliver on what was promised in the original contract agreement. I was never told upfront that this may be a 6-month process. I had a number of other highly qualified vendors that I was considering and decided to take a leap of faith and signed on with EmPower expecting professional service and the project being completed in a timely manner.

My family made a $40K commitment that has now extended into a 5-month process from hell. I am made to feel like I am held captive to supply chain delays with no clear ETA for parts delivery. I have been patient and willing to be empathetic with supply chain issues but receiving an email on 10/11/2022 from the Sr. Project Manager - Alexandra Buckley informing me that we were still 2-3 weeks out on the supply of M425's and for me to consider a change to M420's with less efficiency was too much for me to take.

Sadly, I am no longer excited about going solar powered for my residential needs. I will NOT recommend EmPower to anyone I know. If I cannot get the materials agreed upon in our original contact M425's within the next 2-3 weeks and installation begins I am no longer interested in continuing with my contractual agreement with EmPower.

After 5 months, I am still waiting for the panels to arrive and be installed.

Do now use EmPower solar. I used EmPower for my solar panels 11 yrs ago and everything was good until I needed to put a new roof. What I paid for roof was almost the same that paid to Empower to remove and reinstall the panels. After that the system constantly shows that I am producing 0 energy. I was reaching out to EmPower on multiple occasions and yesterday I got my answer, since it’s been over 10 yrs post installation and I can’t prove it worked before I put new roof ( it did), now I have to pay to have it fix.

I’ve never regretted doing business with a company like I have with Empower solar. After having our system for several years now I can honestly say they do not stand behind their customers like they claim.
After signing our contract to install our system we got lost in they system within their office. Never received any updates unless I called looking for them. They claimed it was the town that wouldn’t issue the permit but I called the town and the permit wasn’t even applied for. After 8 months of getting the run around I finally get an installation date.
Have to say the installation crew were great. Very professional and worked very hard. They wrapped up and I couldn’t be happier. Now I’m back to dealing with the office. Another 2 1/2 weeks of run around before they say I can go live.
FINALLY we’re live. They claimed that if I ever had a problem with my system they would call me in case I didn’t see or realize it was a problem because they monitor it as well. HUGE lie. One day walking past the inverter I hit the button to check on it and it’s in error state. Thought it must’ve been recent because Empower said they call me if I had an issue. I find out my system was in that state from April to the end of July. Prime production months and I’m producing ZERO. No email, no phone call or notification of any kind. I get that resolved and hope all is well.
Now fast forward 2 years of having the system and we come home to a massive leak in our ceiling. I track it down to a lag bolt that missed the rafter, was removed but never sealed. Water pouring out of a ceiling fan. I call and they take care of it.
Now today, 3/8/21, I have Empower back at my house for a 2nd roof leak 8” from the previous leak. I tracked that down to a nail removed in that area. Was it removed for installation and never leaked? Was it removed when they did the previous repair? I don’t know because I can’t remove the panels to inspect my roof. When the system was installed I was informed if I attempted to remove a panel I could void my warranty. Technicians went up and checked it out. Claimed they didn’t see anything and couldn’t duplicate the leak but installed flashing in that area just in case. 2 hours after they leave I get a bill for that service call for $342.10. I’m being billed to fix a 2nd leak I have from a solar system installed by Empower.
I’ve never dealt with a company that made so many claims but failed to meet almost all of them on a $42,000 system. If I could transfer my warranty to another company I would in a minute.
