After nearly three months of paused work in the field, we are thrilled to be able to commence installations once again! As we return, we have implemented strict guidelines and protocols to ensure our staff and clients’ safety. First and foremost, we appreciate the patience of all clients whose projects have been postponed due to COVID-19. The entire EmPower Solar team is operating on all cylinders to get back on pace, moving full steam ahead.
We are continuing to conduct consultations with sales professionals virtually, and are able to provide the same experience from across the kitchen table through video meetings online. Following initial consultations, we are providing more of our site evaluations using drone technology. Drones provide precise measurements and capture details about shading from trees or obstructions so we can continue to custom fit all solar panel systems, just as we always have.
When it comes to our teams in the field, we are following changes to state and federal requirements related to NYS reopening construction activities closely, and strongly encourage employees who do not feel well to stay home. We have implemented a mandatory health screening assessment and temperature check before employees begin work each day. Tool sharing has been significantly reduced and almost eliminated, and strict PPE procedures put into practice.
We are proud of our team’s determination and focus as we work tirelessly to ensure New York State achieves clean energy targets of 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040 and a net-zero carbon economy by 2050.

EmPower Solar has always been driven by our core values: professionalism, excellence, technical expertise, commitment to clean energy, and a client focus. Now more than ever, we are dedicated to keeping our clients and our staff members safe and helping those who need it most.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to doctors, nurses, emergency healthcare workers, store-clerks, food providers, caretakers—any and all who are working tirelessly on the front lines to ensure the safety of our communities. We are most grateful for your selflessness and dedication to the wellbeing of both individuals and the global community. Our thoughts are also with small businesses and others who are forced to close their doors during this extremely difficult time in our country.
We know that many people in our region are being severely affected by job loss and are struggling to put food on their tables. To show our support, we have decided to contribute to the Island Harvest Food Bank. If you are in a position to make a donation of any size, please click here and consider joining. Their incredible staff and volunteers are working to keep food pantries stocked and are delivering individual meals to families in high-need communities to ensure that no one goes hungry. By coming together to help our fellow neighbors and those in need, we know our communities will persevere.
At this time installation work is on hold, and our office is closed, but many team members continue to work diligently from home to prepare projects in our pipeline for completion later this year and in 2021. Although we may not have boots on the roof today, our home-based teams are working behind the scenes to advance these projects and get them ready for install day. From final design, to permitting, to interconnection applications, our internal motors are cranking. We are taking this time to prepare and organize so that when we are able to return to the field, we will be able to deploy clean energy to communities thoughtfully, and with the health and safety of our employees and clients as our top priority.
There is nothing more important at this moment than the health and safety of our teams and broader community. With appropriate safety measures in place, our workforce continues work to prepare for a record year in 2020 once field work resumes. Our team’s resolve and determination at this time to serve our clients, mission, and colleagues is nothing short of remarkable.
During this time, please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have about future or existing projects. Our teams are available, as always, to discuss how we can help you safeguard your home, your business, or your non-profit organization, by preparing for emergencies and securing clean, self-sustaining energy and backup power. We are here to help you find the peace of mind that you will be able to keep the lights on and the refrigerator running if the power goes out, especially in times like these.
Stay safe. Stay home. Stay strong.
Sincerely,
David G. Schieren, Chief Executive Officer
Gregory D. Sachs, Chief Operations Officer
