The Long Beach Polar Bear Plunge is a must-see event. Garnering thousands of spectators and hundreds of participants, there’s nothing like a big party on the beach mid-winter that raises millions for Make-A-Wish.
Bundling in coats covering suits, plungers headed toward the beach in anxious hesitation. While it took some courage to shed layers, a rush of excitement kicked in as you raced toward the water in anticipation. The water was freeeezing (extra e’s for emphasis), but the moment of exhilaration trumped the numbing toes and fingers.
The EmPower Solar culture has always placed an emphasis on community involvement and with that in mind, this year we took our Polar participation one step further, donating $5 for each new Facebook follower during the week leading up to the plunge. We also added $20 to the total for each employee who was brave enough to take a dip in the Atlantic.
